New quilt project

I am part of the Valerie Hearder Landscape Quilt Group and we have a new challenge. We are to create a winter landscape quilt design. Although we don't have snow and ice here, I always think of snow when I think of winter so my quilt will definitely have snow. Now to decide how to make that snow sparkle. . .

Current "To Do' list

1. I am almost done with a baby quilt for a friend. She wanted something "girly" so it is a Sunbonnet Sue design with lace on the edges of the bonnets as well as around the outside edge of the quilt. All that's left is adding a hanging sleeve and the quilt label.

2. I have 2 chapters left on the "how-to" manual my business partner and I are writing for school districts. It explains each step of the special education process from the time a child is referred until they leave school. I still have to do final edits on the IEP chapter and the discipline chapter. Nothing like saving the hardest ones for last! Then it's off to my partner for his input. We had the basic book done but are having to do revisions since the federal law changed. Once that's done it's on to our new book on behaviors.

3. I am still working on knitting socks for my sister. This is a new pattern using 2 sets of circular needles. She provided the yarn so gets the first pair. I like the pattern EXCEPT that when I followed the pattern (including making sure the guage was right), they came out huge -- what my sister and I referred to as Hagrid socks as we thought only a giant could wear them! I ripped it all out and started over reducing the stitches by 1/3. That worked out fine and fit her fine until I got to the last row. When I cast off, it was too tight to go over her foot. I ripped out the stitches again and will try casting off over a MUCH larger needle.

4. I am still struggling to work out my next quilt project. I want to do a "tree" quilt and have 3 different options in my head. I need to pick one and then work out design details. I may end up making all 3 but not unless I get started.
